Fashion Inspiration 2012 ♥

Hello everyone! I hope 2012 is going great for everyone so far. Mine has been pretty fun, I'm back in school and I'm finally getting ahold of things. I might even get a job soon :OO I don't know, I want one just to buy clothes~ xD

Speaking of clothes! I am going to make an inspiration post for today. These are all the things I want to get or am inspired by for 2012. So here we go, picture spam >:D

Shoes

On the darkside, (Well maybe not the darkside, just the non-cutesy lolita side) I really want some wedge heels and platform boots. I think long knee high or even thigh high boots are very cute and glamorous looking. I hope to get some this year. ♥

On the cuteside, any lolita shoes will work. If you read my last post about Lolita and PE, you'll recognize the shoes above, which I am going to try and find some tennis shoes and deck them out as such. I just need some white, blue, and pink shoes for my slowly growing lolita collection <3

Legwear

This year I love legwear. Long socks, decorated tights, fluffies, legwarmers, the whole shabang. I really want some floral tights as well as some wool ones that have a bright pattern on them. I want more pairs of long or thigh high socks. And white or pink fluffies, because they're so cute. I don't rave very often but hey, I still love 'em.

Skirts

I love tiered and ruffly skirts. I feel so cute in them. Sparkly skirts add a lot to an outfit too, I just love them so much. I also want more polka-dotted skirts to incorporate into lolita as well as decora.

Shirts and Dresses

I love pink dresses, however all pink gets boring after a while. So I want some pink dresses with a little color (The only thing that made me love Moon Night Theatre by AP was seeing it coordinated. Otherwise I hated that dress!) I also would like more cutesews and cute t-shirts to wear with skirts to do casual lolita, and eventually decora and fairy kei. I need more cardigans. I love cardigans. And I also love long t-shirts, and I would like one with an upside down cross, because I just like upside down crosses.

Random Other Things

I've been wanting a pink lolita bag that I can coordinate with my sweet outfits. I've also been highly influence by neo-victorian type styles, so I love the plugs shown above, if they were normal earrings. I also love anchors as a motif, and I can see myself trying out sailor lolita sometimes soon. I just love the colors together and the cute little anchors and style of clothes. :]

Well, thanks for "reading". I hope these styles become my main outfits this year!

Outfits 1/5/12, 1/8/12 and 1/9/12

Hey everyone! I've been meaning to put up some posts including my outfits, so here are my outfits from last Thursday, yesterday, and today. Enjoy C;

My outfit for Thursday. I was hello Kitty C:
I was making terrible faces so I covered it.
The last one has the most pictures. I went to Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast yesterday and got a new skirt, so I totally took a bunch of pictures of it C:

Rockin' it in the bathroom

The print up close. It's Bodyline

Rockin' it in normal clothes.

Although I love my outfit today... It's kinda nice to just kick it in shorts and a t-shirt. C:

Lolita and Physical Education

Problem
So a couple days ago was my first day back to school this semester. Although many of my friends had completely different schedules, mine stayed pretty much the same except one class. It's called Rhythm and Dance and it's a PE class.

It sounded okay at first but then the teacher proceeded to tell about how we would be needing the school shorts and t-shirt because we need to dress out during the class.

My friends filled my head with terrible thoughts about the class, but when I went in it didn't seem that bad. However, the idea of dressing out ruined every good thought I might've had about the class. "What if I am wearing lolita?" "What if my decora outfit is too tedious to take off?!". These thoughts filled my head and fueled my disappointment.

Thus, I decided to blog about it. Have any of you lolitas or fashionistas had this problem?

AP must have made these for a reason
Solutions

After some serious thought and brainstorming, I've decided to create a list of solutions that might work for girls (or boys) having this problem.

♥Talk to the teacher
If it really is that big of a deal to you and important, maybe you should talk to the teacher about it. If you really see a big problem, maybe they can help you transfer out of the class and take one that's more outfit-friendly.

♥Make it easier to undress and redress
Practicing putting on an outfit is something I usually do a couple days to a night before wearing an outfit. it makes it easier to put on in the morning and less time consuming. This could also be helpful. Having a number of petticoats can be touch to deal with. If you practice putting it on and taking it off, it might not be as big of a kink in your life.

♥Include gym clothes to your cute wardrobe
If you're anything like me, you love to alter stuff. I am always decorating my phone, cases, folders, binders, etc. If you're handy with a sewing machine and your school is cool with it, then adding some lace and pink hearts to a gym shirt might make it that much more bearable to wear it. And decking out your gym shoes like Angelic Pretty's as shown in the picture above might make it less heartbreaking to dress out.

I will hopefully be trying all of these ideas for my gym class, and I hope this post helped out any of you struggling middle or high school lolitas fretting about the decision between a grade and a passion.
But as my boyfriend would put it, "First world problems" xD

"Swirly Purple and Green Crayons"

Hey (:

After consulting with my dear friend Kim, I've decided to change the name of this blog from "The Life and Times of a Decora Girl" to "Swirly Purple and Green Crayons".

Although both are rather wordy, I think Swirly Purple and Green Crayons is more memorable and definitely less wordy. It also matches the name of my Tumblr blog C:

Tomorrow I start school again so be expecting more outfit posts, because that is something I plan on doing.

How To: Poofy Lolita Pigtails

If you love Angelic Pretty and OTT lolita, I'm sure you've seen this exact hair style around in some manner. I would see them as poofy or puffy pigtails, I hear some people calling them poodle pigtails. No matter what the name, it is a very cute and (surprisingly) easy hairstyle to accomplish.

Here is a quick little tutorial on how to achieve this look. The first step is to somehow achieve curling your hair  in really tight curls. The best way I find to do this is to rag curl or paper curl your hair. Below is a great video by Michelle Phan on how to do so.

The idea is to get really tight curls. The reason you want really tight curls is because this way you only need a couple hair ties and no pins. Rag curls work best because they don't damage your hair and they stay tight and poofy throughout the day. The ideal look should be something like this:

If your hair is longer, the curls should be tighter for you to achieve the idea look. Once you've got the curls down, brush out your hair a bit to add a little frizz. This will add volume to your pigtails.

Finally, you put your hair up in high pig tails. Brush out the hair next to your scalp so the hair not in the ponytail is smooth and sleek. Bring the hair up into a ponytail holder and secure. Brush out the ponytails a bit to add frizz. make sure the hair not in the ponytail is tight otherwise it'll look a bit weird.  Add accessories and you're done ^^

Sorry for the lack of pictures, I wasn't able to take any. However, here are some pictures of how MY hair turned out when I did this C:

Thank you for reading this tutorial ^^
